| Cainhoy has been a rural area but is beginning to see some residential growth. This area is located just east of Mount Pleasant and inland from Daniel Island. Cainhoy is home to one of the largest industrial areas which includes a massive Nucor Steel facility and numerous supporting facilities.
Wando is a small area directly across the one the river from Mount Pleasant and is accessible from Mount Pleasant near the Park West area over a bridge. This is an attractive, quiet community that is beginning to see some growth pressure. There are upscale communities here located on the Wando River as well as some older homes tucked away along dirt roads. | |
