Folly Beach (MLS search)
Folly Beach - south of James Island is the town of Folly Beach. Folly Beach boasts being the edge of America and in many aspects it probably is. This is a more laid-back old-fashioned beachy area than the more refined beaches of the Isle of Palms and of Sullivan's Island which are both located on the northern side of the Charleston Peninsula. Folly Beach has some permanent residents but is also home to many Beach rental properties- both homes and condominiums. Property prices to reflect that your steps away from the Atlantic Ocean. Folly Beach is a popular spot for a beach sports activities including surfing as it has one of the best surfing areas near Charleston. Surfers are definitely welcome. Folly Beach also hosts some challenging the ocean kayak competitions. One of my favorite aspects of Folly are the great restaurants. Another big draw to the island is the Folly Beach fishing pier. The Folly Beach fishing pier is part of the Charleston County Park system and is over 1000 feet of excellent fishing opportunity stretching out into the Atlantic Ocean. At the head of the pier you'll find a restaurant in the well-equipped fishing supply store. On the far end of the pier over the Atlantic Ocean, the covered deck of the fishing pier is the site for a summer series of moon light mixers with some of the best Beach music bands providing a background for people who enjoy showing off their skills with the state dance, The Shag.
