James Island is a well-developed area with easy access to downtown Charleston across the James Island connector or over the Wapoo cut bridge. Because of its close proximity to downtown it is a popular choice for people who work in the downtown area. The strength of the House prices in the James on area reflect its nearness to downtown as well as its ease of access to the Folly Beach area. This is a well-developed area with the casual feel. There is very little new construction available in the James Island area. One of the highlights of the James Island area is the James Island County Park one of the most frequented parks in the Charleston County Park system.
