North Charleston is by far the largest single community in the greater Charleston area. Within North Charleston is the Charleston Air Force Base, the Charleston international Airport, North Charleston Coliseum and convention Center, Trident Technical College, the Northwoods Mall, the revitalized downtown area of old North Charleston, the old Charleston Naval base currently under redevelopment, and many communities covering the whole range of prices, quality and sizes. North Charleston also has many public schools - including to the best public schools in South Carolina: the Charleston County School of the Arts and the Charleston County Academic Magnet High School. The academic magnet high school was recently rated as the seventh best high school in the United States.
