When you buy a home and you are new to the state, your driver’s license from your former state is valid in South Carolina for 90 days. Before the 90-day period expires, new home owners should visit a South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles branch office to
obtain a South Carolina driver license.

You have 45 days after moving to South Carolina to register your vehicle in this state. The title fee is $15 and the registration fee is $24 for a passenger vehicle.
